Meet Dr. Melissa Goldberg Mintz: “I’m an author, psychologist, and mom of two living in Houston, Texas. I have worked with traumatized children, adolescents, and adults for a decade, and am passionate about the role parents play in helping their children recover from adverse events.”  

My current roles include:

  • Treating patients at my private practice, Secure Base Psychology, PLLC

  • Teaching as a clinical assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine

  • Training mental health providers around the world on topics related to my award-winning book, Has Your Child Been Traumatized? How to Know and What to do to Promote Healing and Recovery (The Guilford Press, 2022)

  • Writing curriculum on parenting traumatized children as a consultant on national grants

  • Consulting as an expert for media, including Newsweek, Forbes, and NPR on topics related to trauma

  • Serving on the Board of Directors for the Chester Street Foundation

With years of experience providing workshops to local, regional, national, and international communities, Dr. Goldberg Mintz is pleased to offer trainings on topics related to trauma, trauma prevention, resilience, attachment, and parenting the traumatized child. Regular training locations including schools, hospitals, community centers, government organizations, and places of worship. Dr. Goldberg Mintz is comfortable in working with translators for international workshops, and is proud to offer both in-person and virtual trainings.

Therapy

Dr. Goldberg Mintz sees a limited number of patients in her private practice, based in Houston, Texas. In addition to the treatment of trauma, she treats people of all ages for anxiety, depression, OCD, and life adjustment issues. She sees local patients at her office in the Rice Village area, and offers tele therapy to patients in 31 Psypact participating states in the US.
